High Ropes Course
Today in my Outdoor Pursuits class we went to the high ropes course by the ski lodge. It was the first time I was there and I was really impressed with how everything was set up. It was kind of a slow day because Mr. Smith wanted to make sure we understood the safety that goes along with the high ropes courses. Although I was not able to climb today, I still had responsibilities of being a belayer or a back up belayer. Hopefully on Tuesday it does not rain and we will go back so I will get to experience climbing.

Concussions
For the Penguin fans out there... we all know Sidney Crosby remains on the IR due to his concussion he received back in February. This just proves that concussions are injuries that no longer can be taken lightly in the world of sports. As a person who played football and received atleast two concussions during my playing days, the research being done about the brain and the damage done due to concussions is becoming highly extensive (as it should be). When I received my concussion, I was knocked unconscious and I do not remember getting hit at all. However, I still played in the next game because I did not show any signs (or maybe I talked my way into playing), but now I realize that playing that soon could have really hurt me for a much longer time. As an aspiring coach and physical educator, realizing that a person's health is more important than winning a game will be a very important lesson I will have to learn.

Adapted Golf
In my life and leisure activities class I had to teach a lesson on adapted golf. My partners and I had a hard time figuring out a good lesson plan that would work during class. After some research, we came up with what I felt a great plan and taught a pretty good lesson during class. I was not sure how, or if, a person who was handicapped would actually be able to golf, but after the research and teaching the lesson, I realized that anyone who is disabled can do anything an able bodied person can do even if it is swinging a club at a little golf ball.
